We, Travels with Flip Flops and Walking Boots (known as We, Us and Our) know that data security and privacy is a major concern for everyone. These conversations will be kept for a maximum of a12-month period and then deleted from our secure email server. They may still show at your end of the conversations but will have been deleted at our end.

We will only communicate with you if you contact us via our contact form. We may reply to you via blog comments that you leave. We will not contact for any other reason. All our marketing is carried on our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram where we are very happy to see you and hope you will join in our conversations there.

How we use your personal data/Providing your personal data to others.

How we protect data

You recognise that the Internet is not a 100% secure platform for communication and, accordingly, we cannot guarantee the security of any data you send to us (or we send to you) via the Internet as it is always sent via a 3^rd party – such as an email provider or 3rd party hosted website. We are not responsible for any damages which you, or others, may suffer as a result of the loss of confidentiality of such information via one of these routes. However, we do expect all our providers to be compliant in GDPR/EU-US Privacy Shield and all suppliers of electronic means have been contacted to ensure at they are compliant in either GDPR or the EU-US Privacy Shield from the 25^th May 2018.

We take every precaution to safeguard your information. All personal data is sent through a 3^rd Party (ie: Website, Facebook Messenger, E-mail, or any other social media portal) is kept on those 3^rd Party servers in a secure environment.
For tax purposes I keep basic manual accounts, which are stored securely. These records include your name, postal address and basic order details. I keep these records securely for 7 years as required by HMRC.
We do not store or process any of your card details ourselves. They are processed by secure and trusted 3^rd party payment processors. For Facebook customers this is PayPal. For other online sales platforms, those platforms choose their own 3^rd party payment processors. All data is treated securely by these processors. Where ever possible we have checked to ensure that 3^rd Party payment processors are compliant.

How you can help us protect your data

Please bear in mind that whenever you willingly divulge personal data online in non-protected situations – for example on message forums, through email, or in chat spaces – that data can be collected and used by others.

Retaining and Deleting Personal Data

We retain your personal data on invoices for 7 years. This includes your name and address and basic order details as required by HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs).

We retain any messages between us for a maximum of 12 months – this is in case of any product problems that may arise.

We may retain your personal data for compliance with any legal obligation to which we are subject to may arise, to protect your interests or interests of others.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
